Review of Vulnerability Conceptual Models of Natural Disasters Abroad

摘要

Disaster study and mitigation is altering from emphasizing hazard to disaster system's vulnerability, adaptation and resilience, which can magnify or reduce losses and subsequently influence. This paper reviewed the concepts, framework and model of vulnerability analysis. It is agreed that vulnerability is the expression of disaster system's characteristics and state that is easily be harmed or impacted to different types and intensity of hazards. Vulnerability is relative and dynamic. Generally, assessment of vulnerability concerns 4 dimensions including hazard type and intensity, the losses and affection due to stress, the background affecting factors from natural and social economy, the capacity and ability to respond, adapt and resilient. The most popular assessment way are integrated or compound index methods.
