Forest fire disaster is a serious natural disaster, having very destructive, sudden happening and difficult to control. In this study, we selected the greater Hinggan mountains fire accident happened on 25, May, 2006 as a case study to monitor the fire point using MODIS NDVI, short infrared band 22 and infrared band 32 and calculated the fire disaster area using TM data. The study indicates that the MODIS data can very accurately captured the fire point happened in the forest and its Spread trend. The TM analyzed result showed that the disaster area is 312km~2, and brought very serious disaster to forest and grassland ecosystem and human property.
