The impact of juvenile delinquency prevention and social integration through the intervention of private organizations in this activity field -the case study of arad county

This paper aims at highlighting aspects of juvenile delinquency prevention by examining its components at the level of Civil Society, through a case study of Arad County. In this respect, the degree of concern manifested by the church, foundations, NGOs and voluntary associations in this field of activity was analyzed. According to the initial social plan, the intervention is divided in macro and micro social aspects regarding delinquency prevention and fostering social integration.The results of our study indicate the micro-social involvement through concrete helping actions (assisting young people in school, helping families, organizing activities with recovery and integrative purpose, programs of supporting young people and their families), leisure time management (trips, hiking, visiting monasteries, religious programs, and themed camps) and projects financing (gathering funds and financing certain social work programs, partnerships and collaborations with public and specialized institutions). At a macro-social level several directions were identified as lobbying (input on legislation, more prone representation of the civil society in political and administration structures, elaboration of social projects/ programs/ politics which are relevant, realist and effective) and advocacy (civic education, and changing attitudes towards the juvenile delinquent).The understanding of such complex problem requires a multi- and inter-disciplinary approach. Thus, the study clarifies in some respects the approach of juvenile delinquency in the studied area, the Arad County.
