摘要

The extracellular calcium concentration is maintained within the normal range to ensure that the essential cellular functions in human body are working properly. Parathyroid hormone and calcitonin are the hormones that play the critical role in calcium homeostasis. In this paper, we propose a mathematical model to study the calcium homeostasis by focusing on the effects of parathyroid hormone and calcitonin. The model is then analyzed by using the geometric singular perturbation method. Numerical simulation is also carried out to support our theoretical prediction.
