The thermal properties and the decomposition mechanism of 2-nitroimino-5- nitro-hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine (NNHT) were studied by DSC-TG-IR-MS technology. The results show that the hexahydric ring framework cracking and the nitroamino group [–NNO_2] breaking induce to the major exothermic decomposition process. The gaseous products are H_2O, N_2, CO_2, N_2O, HCHO, NH_3, –CH_2, –NH_2, –CHO, HCN, HNCO, and NO_2.
