The activity of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (CLP) compares with a panorama of various clinical circumstances. The activity of a CLP Service during 2010 was analyzed, with particular reference to requests for "eccentric" reasons and female sex. In both sexes mood or anxiety disorders were the most frequent reason for referral. The range of knowledge and skills necessary in the field of CLP is at the same time very specific and wide and flexible: related pre- and post-graduate training is mandatory.
