Customer trials that showed poor mix quality of natural rubber compounds in the absence of a peptizing agent helped provide a base for the experiment.Utilizing these poor mixes and their peptized counterparts,evaluation of natural rubber compounds utilizing aiuminosilicate microspheres was performed.The two materials selected for evaluation were a Natural Rubber compound and a Natural Rubber/Butadiene OTR blend.Factors evaluated were the use of peptizers,addition of untreated microspheres,addition of microspheres with surface treatment,and changes to mix speed.Measured variables included mix cycle time,yield,rheology,basic physical properties,and hysteresis.
