With a steadily growing share of renewable sources of power generation and the ongoing development of competitive electricity and gas markets, the need for additional flexibility in gas turbines and most efficient usage of fuel gas is emerging. Siemens gas turbines are renowned for their high availability and reliability as well as high power output, flexibility, and low emissions. New, innovative upgrade product solutions like the Operational Flexibility Upgrade, Wet Compression, and the Thermal Performance Upgrade can provide up to 30 MWs in power output improvement and up to 0.25 percentage points of increased efficiency in simple cycle and up to 45 MW and 0.4 percentage points in combined cycle (1×1) operation mode, along with a reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions down to 15 ppm. The Advanced Stability Margin Controller continuously monitors combustor dynamic pressure fluctuations and combustion chamber accelerations. Fast de-loading, trips, and subsequent combustion chamber inspections can be avoided due to increased combustion stability. Another example of downloading the latest technology into the current fleet is the Advanced Compressor Mass Flow Increase upgrade. This upgrade is part of the SGT5-4000F (V94.3A) new apparatus design and is based on the proven SGT5-8000H design. The new compressor blade and vane profile is highly efficient, resulting in a compressor mass flow increase and consequently in a power increase of up to 10 MW for the gas turbine and 14 MW in combined cycle (1×1) operation. The Advanced Compressor Mass Flow Increase upgrade is retrofittable in the SGT5-4000F (V94.3A) service fleet. An innovative solution offered by Siemens Energy for the E-class gas turbines to help improve operating plant competitiveness and profitability are the aerodynamically optimized Siemens innovative 3D-optimized (Si3D) turbine blades and vanes in combination with the Power Limit Increase. All of these upgrades are retrofittable in the SGT5/6-4000F or respectively SGT5/6-2000E service fleets. By implementing the upgrades, the F- and E-class gas turbines can remain highly reliable and competitive in the continuously growing market in Asia.
