Control of fruit rots and foliar diseases in soft fruit, using a new fungicide product based on fluopyram and trifloxystrobin

Results are presented for fluopyram plus trifloxystrobin for disease control in both outdoor and protected soft fruit crops. The data has been obtained over a 6 year period (2006-2011 inclusive) principally on strawberries, although also including some raspberry data. The product was applied typically as a three to four spray programme from first flowers open to target grey mould (Botrytis cinerea). An overview is given of results from trials from across Europe with a specific focus on those carriedout in the UK for control of powdery mildew and latent infections of grey mould in protected crops, where this new product raises the standard of control relative to existing commercial products. Results against latent grey mould (from its use in programmes with other products) indicate that mid-programme positioning, following a specific botryticide such as fenhexamid can be optimal in practice.
