A novel 3D anionic indium phosphate-phosphite, formulated as |(C_(10)H_(10)N_2)_(1.5)(H_3O)_3|[In_(18)(H_2O)_(12)(HPO_4)_(12)(HPO_3)_(16)(H_2PO_3)_6] (1), was hydrothermally prepared by using 4, 4'-bipyridine (4, 4'-bipy) as a structure directing agent (SDA). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that compound 1 crystallizes in the hexagonal system space group P6_3/m (No. 176) having unit cell parameters a = 13.7843(19) A, b = 13.7843(19) A, c = 28.058(6) A, V = 4617.0(13) A~3. Compound 1 exhibits a unique pillar-layer open-framework constructed from InO_6 octahedra, HPO_3 pseudo-tetrahedra and HPO_4 tetrahedra, resulting extra-large 16-MRs channels. Synthesis, crystal structure and fluorescence property for compound 1 were reported in this paper.
