Can Social Capital Drive Economic Growth and Environmental Protection? - Evidence from China

we construct Hamilton model with endogenous social capital being included. By employing mathematical analysis and making numerical calibration, we find that: under the incentives of environmental policy, environmental awareness and environmental action gradually internalize into social capital, deriving from dwellers, enterprises and government. Acting as health assurance, social capital is the key source of economic growth and environmental protection. Panel model further shows that social capital plays a greater role on the win-win of economic growth and environmental pollution: among the three types of social capital, the performance of harmony social capital is the maximum, with that of social resources being the second, and the ability of social participation being the minimum. Once again prove that social capital is the important driving force of economic growth and environmental protection. Lastly we put forward the feasible ways to cultivate social capital.
