Since early 2006 LLI has decided to step into the Composite Business. This is the reason for a new Department for Aerospace Applications has been founded. First step was to develope and to design CFRP Transmissionsshafts for Airbus Megaliner High Lift System. The key problem was to achieve a very high torsional resistance but a very low torsional compliance. These requirements are oppositional. Within 30 months both material and component qualification were successfully achieved.
