1. Rotating packed bed (RPB) with intensification in micromixing and mass transfer can be successfully employed for synthesis of high molecular weight butyl rubber (MR) or low molecular weight highly reactive polyisobutylene (HRPIB) with high-quality via cationic polymerization. 2. The much shorter mean residence time of the reaction process in RPB leads to high production efficiency and reduced energy consumption. -A novel polymerization technology and process.
