According to the problems in the program design course's practice, proposes the new practice mode based on the computing ability training. The pattern suggests that the practical teaching of program designing should be divided into three stages. In this mode, firstly, the students will be strengthening the basic knowledge, secondly, upgrading their skills, and the teachers will help the students develop the thinking and innovation. Through these three stages, the students' computing ability and computer literacy will be cultivated firmly and steadily. The results of our implementation show that in the new practice mode, the students have master the programming language tools more solidly, and use the computer to solve the practical problem more smoothly. At the same time with the new practice mode, the teachers largely shrugged off the heavy practice guidance and assessment of homework, so that the teachers have more energy to think about how convert the traditional physical teaching to the intelligent tutoring.
