In order to make accurate measurement for spatially averaged chromaticity, we made a theoretical analysis and simulation on weighted mean defined in published standards and rigorous method by goniospectroradiometry. The simulation results are consistent with theoretical analysis very well. It is found the method of weighted mean will provide sufficient accuracy for color distributions with a good uniformity. However, it will result in large errors as the nonuniformity of color distribution increases. So, it is recommended to adopt goniospectroradiometry for accurate measurement of spatially averaged chromaticity.
