Temporal modulations of light from LED sources can produce a number of visual artefacts. Unlike flicker, which has been extensively studied and modelled, interactions between modulated light and object and eye movement, has had limited treatment in the research community. One of these effects, the perceived discontinuous motion that arises when modulated light interacts with a moving object is called the stroboscopic effect. In this work we propose a new measure for the visibility of the stroboscopic effect (Stroboscopic Visibility Measure - SVM). It is based on summation of the energy in different frequencies, normalized for human sensitivity per frequency. The exact parameters of the model were fitted based on the experimental data. Two experiments, with square and complex waveforms, show a good fit of the measure to the experimental data and the robustness of the predicted value to the model parameters.
