This paper presents dual switch quasi-resonant (QR) flyback topology which is a cost effective and reliable alternative to the sophisticated zero voltage switching (ZVS) topologies for energy efficiency regulation. The proposed topology shows average efficiency equivalent to or better than LLC resonant converters while still allowing easy and simple design of the conventional flyback converters. With relatively wide input voltage range allows employing tracking boost technique to improve the entire system efficiency by improving the efficiency of the PFC pre-regulator. The validity of the proposed approach is verified with a 90 W prototype power supply which shows average efficiency higher than 90% and power consumption less than 200 mW at no lad condition.
