This thesis makes an in-depth research on the contemporary condition and future trend of the critical regionalism in Chinese architectural field. In the world multi-cultural pattern, academic circles show more and more attention to and concern about local civilization. As a participator of social practice, architect is responsible for maintaining the insistence and sustainable development of local civilization. Chinese architects are preceding with a misbelieve that heritage and adoption of "modernism" does not premise on the doubt and repulsion of "universalism" civilization, just as their counterparts in advanced countries in early years. How to treat technology, art, philosophy, tradition and innovation correctly is a lasting historic subject for Chinese architect.
