Pyrolysis characteristics of Enteromorpha.prolifera was investigated with thermogravimetric analyzer. Simul-taneously, cornstalk and sawdust were references. The results showed that three stages appeared in this thermal degradation process and E.prolifera has lower initial temperature and peak temperature than two kinds of terrestrial biomass, which are sawdust and cornstalk. Morever, The apparent activation energy of the three kinds of biomass was calculated with Flynn-Wall -Ozawa (FWO) method, which has the advantage that they do not require previous knowledge of the reaction mechanism for determining the activation energy. The results showed that the activation energies hardly varied with the degree of conversion and the value of activation energy of E.prolifera, cornstalk and sawdust was 121.74 KJ·mol~(-1), 118.65 KJ·mol~(-1) and 156.89 KJ·mol~(-1), respectively.
