1.Internal CNF application provides the papermaker with options due to the superior strength it can provide. (1)Increase internal ash loading and keep the strength the same. (2)Replace higher cost fiber with a cheaper source and keep the strength the same. (3)Create a stronger sheet to enhance performance. This can come into play when introducing a grade that is a new use application. (4)Add CNF to enable the lowering of basis weight on packaging grades. 2.CNF creation is more affordable than the past and can be achieved using equipment that papermakers are familiar with.
