This paper presents RF design and implementation of millimeter-wave bandpass filters (BPFs)based on high-quality-factor spherical resonators that are configured in an Olympic-shape coupling topology. This type of filtering topology is superior in an improved high-side out-of-band rejection due to the suppression of higher order modes of the spherical resonator. Fifth-order Olympic-topology BPFs are demonstrated at Ku and Ka bands by using direct-metal-laser-sintering and stereolithography (SLA)3-D printing techniques, respectively. Electroless copper/silver plating is employed for the surface metallization of the SLA-printed filter.
