A novel three-layer wideband linearly polarized transmitarray antenna working in 7~16 GHz is proposed in this paper. The array element, which consists of a split circular ring connected by a narrow strip and two orthogonal metallic polarizers, is capable of an independent control of the phase and amplitude of the electromagnetic (EM) waves scattered into the cross-polarization. Moreover, in the whole working band, the proposed element features a low-loss transmission and approximately linear phase curves. A 25×25-element transmitarray excited by a pyramid horn is designed. The simulated results show that a 41 % bandwidth for 0.5-dB gain drop and a 40.7% peak aperture efficiency are achieved, which confirm the feasibility of designing wideband transmitarrays.
