Weight reduction could be a stringent issue for aircraft design to save fuel and increase speed. For this, a promising procedure is proposed in the paper for avionic patch antennas to highly reduce their weights. By applying this procedure, the antenna weight can be reduced to lesser than a half of the original one. More importantly, the antenna performance is maintained or even better. Both full-wave simulation and measurement are provided to confirm the fidelity of the newly proposed procedure.
