Demonstration project attempted to restore wetlands surrounding terrestrial habitats and reduce the water manganese (Mn) concentration of wetlands. Project had tested 5 kinds of trees for phytoremediation, and designed Ecological interception system (EIS) to control the Mn pollution. EIS was composed of the surface runoff collection system (SRCS) and the Treatment system (TS). SRCS composed of cobblestones, high-capacity adsorbent fillers, sands and plants. TS composed of three subsurface wetland units processing modules. The results show that: ①Through the new soil and base fertilizer application in the plant pits can effectively improve plants survival rate. ②Koelreuteria paniculata, Elaeocarpus sylvestris and Paulownia can be used for phytoremediation to weak the surface runoff and soil erosion around wetlands. ③Carina warszewiczii, Boehmeria, Thalia dealbata and other 9 kinds plants in the EIS can effectively absorb the Mn element. ④EIS had purified the water before entered the wetlands. Projects through Engineering measures and phytoremediation had repaired the polluted wetlands, and provided experience for others.
