Many plants oil-based polyols have been developed and a few of them are on the market. However, major part of high quality polyois are made by epoxidation and ring opening technology which are resource intensive. Here we discuss effective polyols prepared from soybean oil. The economical process based on one-pot two stages reaction has been developed. The hydroxyl numbers of polyols can be adjusted in the range of 120-330 mg KOH/g with viscosity of 500 to 15000 cps.
