This article presents a study of carbonaceous materials for lithium-ion accumulators. The main aim is to obtain good knowledge of carbonaceous materials in order to propose possible improvements in the parameters related to the negative electrode of a cell. Carbonaceous materials are used as a substitute for metal lithium in secondary cells, where they are used for their intercalation ability. Lithium has a high specific capacity of 3860 Ah.g~(-1), but on the other hand lithium has also many properties unsuitable for using in accumulators, namely low number of cycles, high price and volatility. The carbonaceous materials have the required properties with the exception of specific capacity around 350 mAh.g~(-1). Increase of the specific capacity is among main goals of this study.
