PATIENT CARE COMPLICATIONS REQUIRING SURGICAL INTERVENTION

Veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants perform a wide range of medical treatments and therapies in a veterinary hospital. No medical treatment is completely free of risk. Some of the complications arising from these treatments will require surgical intervention. These complications may include, but are not limited to, subcutaneous or intramuscular extravasation of medication, intravenous foreign body, and use of inappropriate temperature control modalities. An understanding of the treatments may help with early detection and provide a better outcome.
