The hydro-conversion of tert-butyl methyl sulfide was investigated over NiMo/Al2O3 catalyst using model compounds in fixed bed reactor. It indicated that the hydro-conversion reaction was not subject to thermodynamic equilibrium, and the addition of alkyl sulfur compounds and olefins in the feed decreased the conversion. The different kinds of organic sulfides and olefins were found to have different effects on the conversion of tert-butyl methyl sulfide. The effected order was ethanethiol > dimethyl disulfide > nbutanethiol, and 1-pent(ω=7%) > 1-pentene (ω=0.15%) > isoprene (ω=0.15%). On the basis of the analysis, the reasonable explain was given that the added had a competitive adsorption in the catalyst surface.
