摘要

Due to the increasing demand of energy the potential of renewable energies becomes of increasing importance. The solar energy available on earth, as in photovoltaic applications, is one of the promising renewable energy sources. Today, photovoltaic devices are well established and mostly based on silicon technology. With respect to next generation photovoltaic devices, organic solar cells gain increasing attention. Based on photoactive, semi-conducting polymers, such organic photovoltaic devices can offer completely new opportunities. Photovoltaic devices can become flexible and light-weight, if rigid glass substrates are replaced with thin and flexible foils. Moreover, conducting polymers allow for wet chemical based manufacturing routes such as roll-to-roll printing. As a consequence, organic solar cells have the potential to become cheap and to be used beyond the limitations imposed by the rigid silicon photovoltaic modules [1].
