摘要

The effect of particulate emissions upon atmospheric processes has received increasing attention given of soot’s multiple roles. Depending upon surface chemistry soot can contribute to cloud formation, and directly to radiative forcing directly by strongly absorbing solar radiation and indirectly through water-uptake and cloud activation [1-3]. Soot particles can interact with gaseous chemical species, especially in the near-field plume, and therein play a significant role in heterogeneous atmospheric chemistry [4].
