In this work we present a first order numerical scheme for solving the Pitman-Le model. It is constructed by using a suitable decomposition of a Roe matrix (see [14]) by means of a parabolic viscosity matrix (see [5]), that captures information of the intermediate fields and we named it as IFCP (Intermediate Field Capturing Parabola). It is linearly L~∞-stable and well-balanced with respect to the water at rest solution. A numerical experiment is presented to compare the behaviour of this new scheme with Roe and FORCE methods.
