摘要

The ultrasonic measurements find wide applications in characterizing the physico-chemical behaviour of liquid mixtures and in the study of molecular interaction from the knowledge of variation of thermodynamic parameters and their excess values with composition give an insight into the molecular process. Ultrasonic velocity (u) and density (p) measurement have been carried out in the mixture of sesame oil and Butyl acetate at 298.15K. The experimental data have been used to calculate isentropic compressibility, free length and excess volume and excess isentropic compressibility to evaluate the molecular interaction existing in the mixture. An attempt has been made to evaluate the experimental ultrasonic velocity with that predicted on the basis of Nomoto's Relation (NR), Ideal Mixing Relation (IMR) and Collision Factor Theory (CFT) with a view to compare the merits of the above mixture. The modulus of percentage derivation in ultrasonic velocity and Chi-Square test (Y~2) for goodness of fit is applied to check the validity of the theories.
