Delay Analysis for an AQM Queue with Dropping Function

The active queue management is a technique for reducing the queueing delay at the router queue, by dropping packets preventively (before the buffer overflow occurs). In this paper we present analytical calculations of the queueing delay in the AQM model in which packets are dropped with probability that depends on the queue size observed upon arrival (as in the well-known RED algorithm). In addition, the analytical results are illustrated with numerical examples.
