@@ Pyroxasulfone is a novel pre-emergence herbicide for use in wheat, corn, soybean and other crops. This herbicide provides good efficacy on both grass and broadleaf weeds. We have revealed that pyroxasulfone is an inhibitor of very long-chain fatty acid elongase (VLCFAE) of plant; therefore, is clarified as K3 herbicide. The difference in the inhibition of plant VLCFAEs by pyroxasulfone was shown to be one of factors which are involved in the selectivity of this herbicide between crops and weeds. In this poster, we studied the pyroxasulfone metabolism in both tolerant crop, such as wheat and susceptible plant, such as rigid ryegrass to elucidate the selectivity of this herbicide between crops and weeds. The metabolism study was conducted by root application of 14Cpyroxasulfone with plant seedlings at 3 leaf stage for various time intervals (1 day, 2 day and 4 day).
