The Language Archive –a structured and open repository for language resources

Data accessibility and interoperability are crucial for advancements in data driven and intensive sciences. The current state of data in many disciplines is far from being satisfying. The European Commission is funding therefore more than 40 research infrastructures projects in a wide area of disciplines amongst which is the CLARIN infrastructure which all have to make quantum leaps in long-term data accessibility and interoperability. The Language Archive is one of the leading centers in the CLARIN infrastructure already now fulfilling all requirements. It is storing, preserving and offering access to 80 Terabytes of language data and in addition offers language technology adhering to open standards and including state-of-the-art concepts. Recently TLA decided to also participate in the large European crossdisciplinary EUDAT project with the goal to develop common data services which is very much coherent with its engagement in new world-wide initiatives such as DAITF/DWF.
