Injection moulding is one of the most important processes to manufacture technical polymer products. In particular, special technologies of injection moulding enable to produce functional, complex parts, e. g. for the conduction of media. The projectile injection technique (PIT) is a special injection moulding technology which can be used to easily manufacture complex hollow parts in an one-step process. This paper discusses the requirements on peripheral equipment and mould design and gives impressions of the effect of the process parameter variations on important quality criteria, such as residual wall thickness, for this innovative process.
