Many biominerals are organized from the mesoscale to the macroscopic scale with state-of-the-art morphologies and structures attributed to the arrangement of the biological molecular templates.Many biological systems contain densely packed DNA assemblies,for example sperm and viral phage,and the DNA packing in chromatin plays an important role in gene regulation.It is of extreme important to understand the mechanisms of the DNA packing of these biological systems,including humans.Although many forms of counterion-induced DNA liquid crystals (LCs) have been studied extensively,the packing behavior of DNA in vivo is not fully understood,and structures mimicking silica mineralization in vitro remain unresolved.
