With the advance of construction of the ultra-high voltage grid, more and more attention is paid to transmission tower design while taking into account the economic and security. In the transmission tower structure, there are usually plane nodes, accompanied with a diaphragm or a cross arm. The treatment method of plane nodes has direct effect on the accuracy of result in solving the stiffness matrix for analyzing the tower structure. Several treatment methods of plane nodes are compared by ANSYS and MATLAB programming respectively. Empirical results show that the computational results are more close to the actual situation with "Plus virtual bar method". Thus, it demonstrated that above-mentioned method is more suitable for the independent developed tower calculation, which can provide a good reference for future tower calculation.
