The aim of the study was to assess the leaching of Arsenic (As) from chemically stabilized soil using sulfur-containing amendments under simulated landfill conditions (anaerobic environment). Three soils from former wood impregnation plants containing 270-4590 mg/kg As were mixed either with Coal Fly Ash (CFA), Calcium Sulfate (CaSO_4) or Calcium Sulfide (CaS) (3 wt% each) and incubated for one month in an anaerobic environment. None of the soil amendments were effective to reduce As leaching in anaerobic environment to the levels that were measured in aerobic conditions.
