Several typical failures of external gear pump are presented. The reasons of the pump failure are analyzed in detail. Solutions of the failure are proposed. In order to improve the efficiency of pump's maintenance and reparation, a new kind of tool is mentioned which could predict the life of gear pump before failure occurred.
