In order to determine the effect of different concentrations of Steiner's universal nutrient solution on the Asiatic hybrid Lilium 'Brunel' grown hydroponically under greenhouse conditions, a 3x3x3 factorial experiment was carried out. The studied factors were: 1) osmotic potential (-30, -50, -70 kPa); 2) N-NH_4~+-cations ratio (0, 12.5 and 25% of total cation concentration), and 3) H_2PO_4~- anions ratio (80, 120 and 160% concentration of this ion in the Steiner solution). The nutrient solution was provided daily with a pH between 5.0 and 5.5. The culture substrate was a red volcanic rock called "tezontle" whose particles ranged in diameter from 1 to 7 mm. Macronutrient analyses (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) were performed in stem, leaf and flower. Analyses of variance and mean comparisons (Scheffé) were performed. Significant (α≤0.05) differences were found. It was concluded that the selection of levels was appropriate, since with these levels, especially with the mean level of each factor, the highest values of Ca in flower and K in stem were produced.The highest concentration of P in flower was obtained with both 0% N-NH_4~+, 120%, H_2PO_(4-) and -50 kPa (N_1 P_2 0_2 vs. N_1 P_2 O_1) and 25% N-NH_4~+, 160% H_2PO_4~- and -50 kPa (N_1 P_2 O_2 vs. N_1 P_2 O_1).
