In order to study the dynamic behavior of ladder track with and without ballast,two types of ladder tracks are constructed and tested in laboratory.An automatic falling weight system is used for the vibration reduction test of the tested ladder tracks.In addition,a modal test is performed as well.Test resuhs of ballasted and ballastless ladder tracks with two kinds of under sleeper pads are compared.Results show that,ballast has good effects on vibration reduction in both time domain and frequency domain.Within 20 Hz,it can induce 15 ~ 25 dB vibration reduction.Floating ladder track with elastic USPs have better vibration reduction function.The natural frequencies of ballastless ladder track are much lower than ballasted one,while ballast plays an important role on the values of damping ratio.
