OVERALL COST REDUCTION BY SELECTION OF THE RIGHT FIBER PLACEMENT EQUIPMENT

摘要

This paper describes the different possible machine and processing concepts for Automated Fiber Placement, as they are currently used in the composite industry (mostly the aerospace industry). Both gantry and column style machines have their advantages and disadvantages, and each style also induces certain tooling concepts. Based on part families, cost studies are shown in order to help in the selection of the most suitable equipment for a certain part.
