At present, almost all the car garages and service dealerships have two post lifts in the repair bays. These systems are prone to various problems. There are cases in which automobiles have been irreparably damage like a bent chassis or fallen automotive from the lifts. Moreover, in some cases even human lives were subjected to harm while working in car bays. This paper presents a closed form solution for inverse kinematics of a two post car lift system. The arms of the lift are electro-mechanical manipulators and here the solution to these manipulators are calculated by using geometric approach. Each arm is a prismatic-revolute-prismatic (PRP) manipulator in itself.
