Lamb waves are widely used in damage detection of composite laminate. To fulfill the goal of damage detection and predicting remaining useful life for components required by Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), both the damage number identification, localization and quantitative damage size estimation are necessary. A strategy based on sub-region damage detection of sparse sensor array is proposed and the delay-and-sum algorithm is used for damage imaging and localization. Then a probability based method of classification of damage sizes hierarchically is put forward. At last, the damage imaging on a CF/EP composite panel correctly shows the health condition of every panel sub-region. Experimental results prove multi-damage is identified with precise locations and matched sizes.
