摘要

A novel edge detection scheme which uses Laplacian Pyramids for multi scale decomposition, Directional Filter Banks for obtaining the directional information is used in this paper. Furthermore, a statistical thresholding is used to validate a pixel to be an edge. The results are tested for various general and medical images. Also, a comparison is made with the two popular edge detection techniques and the results obtained by the proposed method are found to be appreciable both in terms of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
