There is a general consensus in forecast an increase of the worldwide demand for electricity of more than 70% to almost reach 32000 TWh by 2035. Consequently a large amount of new T&D lines and substations will have to be installed and the existing capacity will face upgrading with utilities pushing component manufacturers to quickly fulfill these demands but speed cannot be obtained at the expense of safety and reliability as last year's massive grid failure in India testified with strong economical, technical and social consequences. Major outages ask for the implementation of more stringent regulations in many countries and these situations push utilities to look for the evidence of testing as a way to demonstrate they work with due diligence in choosing equipment and technologies. Moreover construction of urban substations in big cities with intense population is always challenging and the reduction of substation footprint is a demanding need.
