摘要

The transmission lines of 1000kV AC pilot demonstration project and ± 800kV DC demonstration projects in China have distributed a large area. The area, within which the transmission lines located, indicates varied meteorology and many types of contamination. The operation experience of power grid shows that, the usage of silicone rubber composite insulators effectively held back the large area of pollution flashover in grid, effectively improved the operation reliability of ± 500kV HVDC transmission lines. Due to the high operating voltage and high transport capacity of UHV lines, the use of silicone rubber composite insulators can significantly reduce the size of external insulation, reduce project cost as well as workload to operate and maintain the project, improve the availability and reliability of transmission and distribution equipment. This paper introduces the application range, the selecting principles and method for determining creepage distance of silicone rubber composite insulation on UHV AC and DC lines.
