Application of Optical Brightening Agent in Wet End and Surface Sizing

The Optical Brightening Agent (OBA) used in papermaking is mainly the compounds which are diaminostilbene disulfonic acid derivatives. The three types of the compounds were investigated in the paper to brighten papersheet. The brightness could be enhanced limitedly when OBA was added in wet end or applied in surface sizing respectively. The synergy of the two types OBA is obviously and cost-effectively. The brightness of the sheet reach the peak when the percentage of AP is 35~45%.
