Chlorpyrifos[O,O-diethyl O-3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinyl phosphorothioate] is one of the most widely used organophosphate insecticide, acaricide and miticide used to control foliage and soil-borne insect pests on a variety of food and feed crops. The crops with the most intense chlorpyrifos use are cotton, corn, almonds, and fruit trees including oranges and apples. However, chlorpyrifos is a well known moderately toxic chemical that can cause cumulative adverse effects. It is highly toxic to human beings also and can cause serious diseases like myelomo[1], prostrate cancer[2], neurocognitive deficits[3], embryonic viability[4], respiratory problems[5] etc. Thus, the over application of chlorpyrifos to the agricultural fields needs to be controlled. In addition, Chlorpyrifos can be greatly influenced by light and the persistence period of leaf control is short, also performing other defects such as sharp smell, high volatilization and water-insoluble and difficulties in manufacturing. If chlorpyrifos is made into a release formulation, these problems can be generally conquered.
